SUM Theatre’s The First Monday March Reading Features Local Comedian and Actor Shawn Cuthand in “A Nightmare in Uncle’s House”

SUM Theatre’s The First Monday, returns for another installment on March 2 2026 with this month's reading of Shawn Cutland’s “A Nightmare at Uncle’s House”.

The First Monday is held at Persephone Theatre’s lobby on March 2 2026, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Canada. The event is free and there will be a fifteen minute intermission and snacks will be provided.

 

  Saskatoon’s SUM Theatre's The First Monday is a program designed by artists and playwrights to workshop new plays. The monthly series starts on the first Monday of each month and goes from October to May every year and began in 2022. 

           

  The project began as The Last Sunday in 2017. The first play reading was on September 17. Last Sunday ended in April 2022 and was rebranded as The First Monday in fall of 2022. Their first reading was on October 2nd 2022 which debuted, Sad Girls Watch the Princess Bride by Saskatoon actor, Mara Teare.

Cutland is a Comedian, actor writer and creator whose works have been seen on APTN’s “The Feather News” satirical news series, a production from last year’s Saskatoon Fringe Festival, “Shawn & Danny’s Deadly Adventure” that he co-created and performed with local actor and comedian, Danny Knight. The two also contributed to Gordon Tootoosis Nikaniwin Theatre's Holiday Cabaret on December 18 2205. More information where you can find Cuthand next can be found on his Instagam page here.

This play is a supernatural tale of a woman, Taylor returning to her Uncle’s house and discovers he hasn’t left.

 

The play reading features Bruce Sinclair, Cheyanna Sapp, Darian Koskitagan, Julia Kowalski and Corry Dallas Standing. Graheme Kent helped serve as Dramaturg.

  Tim Bratton serves as Interim Company Dramaturg with Claire Middleton as Company Dramaturg for the company.

 

 

SUM Theatre’s The First Monday is being held in Persephone Theatre’s lobby on March 2 2026  at 7 PM in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada.. The Event is free and snacks will be provided.
