
SUM Theatre’s First Monday Debuts their Next Play of the Season The Fissure by Kevin Moxley

Saskatoon’s SUM Theatre's The First Monday is a program designed by artists and playwrights to workshop new plays. The monthly series starts on the first Monday of each month and goes from October to May every year and began in 2022.
The project began as The Last Sunday in 2017. The first play reading was on September 17. Last Sunday ended in April 2022 and was rebranded as The First Monday in fall of 2022. Their first reading was on October 2nd 2022 which debuted, Sad Girls Watch the Princess Bride by Saskatoon actor, Mara Teare.
This month is the debut of Saskatoon actor Kevin Moxley’s The Fissure. The company’s website presents the premise as a fairytale retelling of Oscar Wilde’s The Fisherman and His Soul


Moxley’s script is assisted by Gordon Portman as Dramaturg. Claire Middleton as the company’s Dramaturg. The reading is performed by Bobbi Jones, Mitchell Larsen, Gabrielle Defrense, Liz Whitbread and Ed Mendez as the ensemble.



SUM Theatre’s The First Monday March Feature Kevin Moxley’s The Fissure is on March 1st 2025 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. The First Monday is hosted by Persephone Theatre in their Main lobby.
