Colourless Ruby and the Fantastical Missing Shades by Skin and Bones Collective is pure prepackaged unadulterated delight. This has the makings of a modern contemporary children’s fantasy epic following in the footsteps of Alice in Wonderland or Peter Pan.

Colourless Ruby stars Rachel Walliser as the title character and Emma Eaton playing multiple roles.

The plot features Ruby following a cat into a land of colour utilizing audience engagement and special color glasses to enchant and allow childlike innocence, wonder and imagination to seep through the audience.

Walliser conveys sweetness mixed with naiveté and curiosity to bring Ruby to life. Walliser’s facial expressions are animated and her use of physical comedy and body movement help both ground the projection while allowing to fantastical to paint a canvas of spectacle and jubilation.

Eaton is able to effortlessly change voices, affectations, tones to make each of her characters distinct and memorable.

Colourless Ruby is candy coated joy, dripping with adventure, mystery and fun that makes it just as enjoyable to the children audience as it does for adults.

Colourless Ruby and The Fantastical Missing Shades is running at the Cosmopolitan (Cosmo) Seniors’ Centre from July 31-August 9 2025 at the Saskatoon Fringe Festival in Saskatoon Saskatchewan, Canada. Tickets can be purchased online here, the box office or the venue itself.
